Francesca Lazzeri has been working with creative producer Job Rietvelt and an alternating group of artists since 2019. Francesca and Job both graduated from the AHK’s Academy for Theatre and Dance in 2016; Francesca from the  Mime School, Job from Production in the Performing Arts. They first began creating performances together with Tamar Blom in 2015, under the name Wild Vlees, until the performance collective decided to part company in 2019.

Job Rietvelt also works as International & Development Coordinator for Theatrefestival Boulevard, and as a concept developer and initiator of several productions still in the pipeline.

As epitomised in Francesca’s performances and approach to making work, Francesca and Job stand for directness, their focus on the present moment is forthright and categorical. They shun stability and are constantly in transformation.

What distinguishes Francesca is the uncompromising, outspoken immediacy of her signature. Her work is highly visual and often physically demanding, connecting with audiences in the intimate, personal space of her performance. Her work questions and spotlights the problems of the way we live in Western Europe for which Francesca is actively seeking diverse dialogues within various Dutch and international contexts.

August 2020 saw the premiere of her latest production My Shadow Used To Have A Density (coproduced with Schweigman& and Theatrefestival Boulevard) and presented in association with Festival Cement and SPRING.

Schweigman& has supported Francesca, Job and Tamar since 2017, as well as guiding them individually as emerging artists and producer. The group is also supported by Theatrefestival Boulevard, Fonds Podiumkunsten (new makers programme 2017-19), PLAN Talentontwikkeling Brabant, Festival Cement, Frascati Productions, Het Huis Utrecht, Theater Rotterdam and Workspacebrussels.

Previous shows When Everything Is Human, The Human Is A Whole Different Thing (nominated in 2016 for a BNG Nieuwe Theatermakers Prize) and An Incomplete Life (2017), both made with Tamar Blom, are still touring the Netherlands and abroad. Individual creations include Everything Must Be Interpreted As Intensity (2017) and Dear Friend, Wolves Have Always Eaten Sheep (2018), both created with Frascati Productions support. In 2018, Wild Vlees was nominated for a Brabant Cultuur Audience Award.

Francesca presents May 5, 6 and 7 at Festival Auawirleben (Bern) the project Änet em Bärg with Swiss maker Marie Popall. They will develop a project together, without meeting physically beforehand. Tickets are available.
