Tamar (Tilburg, 1992) creates performances and installations in which the viewer is addressed in a physical way and actually set in motion. This is done by means of intense visual spaces and actions. He is also a performer and co-creator with Dries Verhoeven and Johannes Bellinkx, among others.
Tamar completed the Mime Training at the AHK in 2014, after which he was part of the performance collective Wild Vlees until 2019, together with Francesca Lazzeri and Job Rietvelt. In 2018, Wild Vlees was nominated for the Brabant Cultuur Audience Award. This collective ceased to exist in 2019.
Since 2017, Schweigman& has supported Tamar, Francesca and Job (then part of Wild Vlees) in their development as a company, and the individual members in their growth as makers, artists and producers. In addition, the group and the individual makers were supported by, among others, Theaterfestival Boulevard, Fonds Podiumkunsten (new makers scheme 2017-19), PLAN Talentontwikkeling Brabant, Festival Cement, Frascati Producties, Het Huis Utrecht, Theater Rotterdam and Workspacebrussels.
After Wild Vlees, Tamar made several performances and installation works. In Black Box in a White Cube (2019), a man (played by Tamar) is pushed into different directions while he tries to push back, with a huge black cube as an opponent. With White Noise (2020), he attempted to visualize how we deal with all the information flows that are constantly fired at us every day. In the installation Body of Water (2024), Tamar lets you see, hear and feel the influence water can have on you as a person.
In 2021, Tamar founded Platform Nexus together with a number of other makers: a shared space in the creative work area Het Domijn. Platform Nexus is an art platform, a new makerspace in Weesp, where a group of ambitious young artists from different disciplines meet. The core is formed by a group of eight makers who move between the worlds of theatre, performance and installation art. The projects that the platform creates are mostly of a physical and spatial nature.
