At Vege Lijf mime company the body is the subject of positive discrimination. To redress the balance in the relationship between mind and body, the group creates intriguing performances about the beauty, power and importance of the body. Luuk Weers and Hali Neto formed the collective during their final year of the Mime School in Amsterdam in 2018. Producer Kas Pijs joined them shortly after.
Within the talent development programme Vege Lijf is exploring new ground and making pre-studies for their production of The dying story of a small body function.
The dying story of a small body function
You get an error message, a short circuit. What happens to your body? It starts to malfunction, to stall, to crash. This is a performance about information overload and the frameworks we create that cause our body to crash.
Vege Lijf mime group examine the physical effect of the body when it crashes. Drawing material and inspiration from a previous talent development programme hosted by Jakop Ahlbom Company, they are currently exploring this further with Schweigman&. Their goal is to create a complete performance in 2020, under the working title The dying story of a small body function.
