On Friday, November 2, the first DAY OF THE MIME will take place in Theater de Meervaart. During this day peers, experts, students, programmers and audience will come together to gain knowledge and share experiences. This first edition is about talent development. How do we give mimers opportunities to develop and show their talent, what needs are there, what can existing mime companies do to share their expertise, and how do venues and festivals relate to all forms of expression that mime has?
Since 2017, the mime companies Golden Palace, Jakop Ahlbom Company and Schweigman& have joined forces in their common mission to give mime new impulses and enhanced visibility. They do so both within their own talent development programs and in their joint platform. In this platform they work together with the Mime Opleiding and involve their direct relationships with venues, festivals, programmers and audiences. In cooperation with Theater de Meervaart we organize this first edition of the Day of Mime.
During the afternoon program, discussions will take place with creators, artistic directors and the public, work will be shown by the creators from our talent programs and we will exchange ideas with festivals and venues. Parallel to this afternoon, Yannick Greweldinger and Dwayne Toemere will provide a mime workshop for young people affiliated with De Meervaart.
Host: Christiaan Mooij. Moderator: Marijn de Langen. With a.o.: Jakop Ahlbom, Marinke Eijgenraam, Ingrid Kuijpers, Hali Neto, Loes van der Pligt, Boukje Schweigman, Anton van der Sluis, Luuk van Weers and many others.
The evening program will feature the work of several performers. Sue-Ann Bel (winner of the Top Naeff Prize 2018) plays her graduation solo LEB NNA-EUS, Koen van der Heijden and Hidde Aans-Verkade play THE PLACE TO BE and Judith Hazeleger and Koen Kreulen present REPEAT with Fried Mertens and Carola Bärtschiger.
