Outside stands a large, wondrous sphere. Inside are ten tons of clay and five hundred liters of water. Welcome to Klei, the new show by Schweigman& in collaboration with visual artist Zoro Feigl and percussion group HIIIT.

Body, landscape and live music
For Klei, Zoro Feigl created an terrene and unpredictable clay landscape. In it, the performers of Schweigman& surrender to the rhythm, vibrancy, weight, and transience of the clay. At times, clay and body merge, and the clay feels safe and familiar. At other times, it becomes a struggle. The larger forces of the landscape seem to take over. Percussionists from HIIIT play Gemma Luz Bosch’s ceramic instruments, creating a soundscape of clay and water.

“This time calls for us to come together, to listen to what needs to be heard and felt from the depths of our existence. How do we listen again to the signals of our bodies and the earth?”
—Boukje Schweigman

Klei is a search for the ancient connection between humans and clay, in all its beauty, struggle, and wonder. The performance is an invitation to return to the essence. How do we relate to our body? And to the land we live on?

Immerse yourself in the musical and sensory world of clay.
